Ingredients:
2/3 c. butter or oleo
2 c. sugar
2 beaten eggs
2 squares chocolate, melted
16 chopped Maraschino cherries
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. beer
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. Maraschino cherry juice
Directions:
Cream shortening, add sugar then blend well. Add eggs and chocolate; blend. Alternately add sifted dry ingredients with buttermilk and cherry juice. If using electric mixer, take out beaters then add cherries and nuts. Blend with a spoon by hand. Add beer last and blend. Pour into a 9x13 greased and floured baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
