Melt In Your Mouth Biscuits

Ingredients:
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. shortening or butter
2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. buttermilk

Directions:
In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients; cut in shortening with a fork until crumbly.  Add egg and buttermilk; mix and knead lightly.  On a floured surface, press dough to 1/2 inch thickness.  Cut into squares or use a biscuit cutter for rounds.  Place on a baking sheet.  Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes or until bottoms are brown.
